Heading to Austin and don't know where to start? Don't worry, click here, I'll help you! As someone who navigates these streets daily, I've filtered the best of the city so you can make the most of every minute without any hassle.
Here's my secret formula for an epic and budget-friendly trip:
☕ Stylish Mornings in South Congress
Start your day in South Congress (SoCo). There's no better way to soak up the Austin vibe than with a good cup of coffee in hand while strolling past the iconic murals. It's the perfect place to people-watch and soak up the local atmosphere before the heat kicks in.
🛵 Get Around Like a Pro
Forget renting a car if you're staying downtown. Use rideshares (Uber/Lyft) or hop on an electric scooter to get from point A to point B. You'll save time, money, and the headache of finding parking in Austin.
💡 Pro Transportation Tips
Scooters (Lime/Bird): Use them to get between South Congress and Downtown. It's more fun than an Uber and you avoid traffic.
CapMetro: If you want to save as much as possible, the bus from the airport costs only a few dollars and drops you off right in the city center.
🌮 The Flavor Triangle (Budget-Friendly)
You don't have to spend a fortune to eat like a king. These are my three must-tries:
Breakfast Tacos | Austin's sacred ritual to start the day. |
Casual BBQ Plate | Look for the local food trailers or stands to avoid three-hour lines and tourist prices. |
Food Truck Tacos | The best option to end the night deliciously and cheaply. |
🌅 Sunsets and Patios
To slow things down, nothing beats a stroll along Lady Bird Lake just as the sun begins to set. End the day at a patio dinner; the string lights and fresh air are the true essence of the city.
